5) Boundary Turbulence

Co-Owners of private information do not effectively negotiate and follow jointly held private rules, boundary turbulence is likely the result.

Boundary Turbulence- Disruption of privacy management and relational trust that occurs when collective privacy boundaries are not synchronized.
Others get a hold of the information when it is unwanted and fails to follow the explicit rules that the owner for the information wants, not getting consent.(Kennedy, pg. 667)

This is usually information that can rock your relationship.

Things that happen in CPM are not always privacy issues that are straight forward and situations that we know how to act. These are things that could happen that do not follow the boundaries or principals.

Fuzzy Boundaries- When talking to someone about private information but who you need to talk to had brought a companion and you do know if this information could be disclosed to them or not.
This can happen when someone goes to the doctor but brings someone else with them the doctor does not know if the companion knows or not. This could cause problems in the relationship if the companion does not know.

Intentional boundaries- Someone knows the original owner would be horrified if you revealed their secret but they do it anyway.
This can happen when partners break up and one partner or both start telling each others secret. They would be mortified if they knew the other person was telling their secrets but tells the other persons anyway.

Mistake- Letting things slip when your guard is down forgetting who else might have access to the information.
